Question to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities:
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, pursuant to the Answer of 31 May 2018 to Question 146735 on High Rise Flats: Fires, which fire and rescue authorities in England have suspended the stay put guidance for residents of high-rise tower blocks that have cladding systems that do not meet current Building Regulations guidance.
The National Fire Chiefs Council’s general guidance supports the principle of a ‘stay put’ strategy where it is appropriate. Decisions on maintaining or suspending the ‘stay put’ policy in blocks of flats should be based on a comprehensive risk assessment undertaken by a competent fire risk assessor. Residents and the local fire and rescue service should be informed where an existing ‘stay put’ policy is suspended.
