Question to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, how much local authorities have been required to pay back to HM Treasury in right to buy receipts in each financial year since 2012-13; and if he will make a statement.

As stated in the answer to PQ UIN 132538, answered on 22 March 2018, and PQ UIN 133274, answered on 26 March 2018, the Department does not publish this information, because it quickly falls out of date. This is due to operational reasons, as the 167 local authorities that have made relevant sales since 2012 have to estimate the amounts due, which are then made more accurate as a result of periodic review and reconciliation exercises.
