Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what estimate his Department has made of the amount of money spent from the public purse on policing in (a) 1997, (b) 2007, (c) 2010 and (d) 2017.

The structure of policing and the way it is funded have changed significantly over the period in question. It is therefore not possible to provide a directly comparable set of figures for total police funding in the years requested.
