Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, how much land his Department has released for the building new homes since May 2010.
Published data shows that National Health Service trusts, foundation trusts and the Department of Health and Social Care, including its arm’s length bodies and wholly owned property companies, released land with capacity for 15,185 homes from May 2010 to March 2015 and 3,516 homes from May 2015 to September 2016. The Ministry for Housing Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) is responsible for the cross-government Public Land for Housing Programme, which aims to release land with capacity for at least 160,000 homes in England from the central government estate by 31 March 2020. MHCLG are now monitoring the progress of sites sold through both the 2011/15 and 2015/20 Public Land for Housing Programmes, in order to estimate the number of homes under construction and completed.
