The Government’s initiative, Childhood Obesity: A Plan for Action, has been supported by Public Health England. The initiative includes:

- The reduction and reformulation programme; challenging the food industry to reduce the levels of sugar in products contributing most to sugar intake in children, and reduce calories in products consumed by families;

- Setting the guidelines for local authorities to deliver the mandatory National Child Measurement Programme; and

- Publication of resources to support families, schools and health professionals to address childhood obesity.
