Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, with reference to the planned additional expenditure related to changes to the personal injury discount rate provided for in his Department's Supplementary Estimate 2017-18, how much such additional expenditure there has been in 2017-18 to date.

The additional requirement in relation to the change in the personal injury discount rate was £394 million. Year to date spend (as part of the Department’s month nine accounts position) was £318 million in relation to the personal injury discount rate.

Final outturn will be published as part of the Department’s Annual Report and Accounts by the end of July 2018.
