Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, with reference to their Department’s press release entitled New powers to protect vital free speech at universities, published on 20 April 2026, what assessment she has made of the potential impact of fines of up to £500,000 or 2% of income on the financial sustainability of higher education providers.

It has not proved possible to respond to the hon. Member in the time available before Prorogation.
