Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how many children’s social care departments previously assessed as inadequate and requiring improvement have been reassessed as good and outstanding in each of the last five years.

As of 20 January 2023, Ofsted have rated 87 local authorities as Good or Outstanding for children’s social care, which amounts to 57% of local authorities. This compares to 54 local authorities in March 2017.

A breakdown for the number of children’s social care departments previously assessed as Inadequate or Requires Improvement that have subsequently been reassessed as Good or Outstanding in each of the last five years is as follows:
