Question to the Home Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to the Answer of 15 January 2018 to Question 121751, what steps her Department plans to take to monitor the effectiveness of those arrangements.
As set out in the previous answer, the Department reviews allowed appeals in order to learn lessons. It should be noted that in many cases new evidence is often submitted at an appeal hearing, which was not available when the original decision was made. In addition to the Department’s own direct assurance, the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration also has a key role in looking the quality of departmental processes.
