Robotic hip surgery is being developed and evaluated in a small number of centres. It is not yet routinely available in the National Health Service as the technology has not as yet proved its efficacy, safety and value over and above routine hip replacement which is already highly effective. Hip replacements are a clinical and cost effective healthcare intervention. Timescales for completion of the evaluation are yet to be set.
