The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is responsible for assessing new technologies and interventional procedures, as well as producing guidelines for best practice of treatment and care.

Recommendations on the use of statins for people under 16 years of age have been published under NICE guidance “Familial hypercholesterolaemia: identification and management”.
