Derogations are agreed between unions and individual ambulance trusts. The Government has been working closely with NHS England to respond to strike action and to put contingency plans in place.

The Government believes it is important that there is a legal requirement to ensure minimum service levels for ambulance services during strike action and has brought forward the Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Bill.
