Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, what assessment his Department has made of the effect of the decision by soft drinks suppliers to repackage the size of their bottles and cans on the revenue to the Exchequer from the soft drinks industry levy.

The latest revenue forecast for the Soft Drinks Industry Levy can be found in ‘Table 2.2’ of the Budget Document, published alongside Autumn Budget 2017. This forecast already accounts for a behavioural response whereby producers lower the sugar content of their drinks, promote lower sugar alternatives and reduce portion sizes.
