Embassy officials carry out regular assessments of the political and human rights situation in Papua and West Papua provinces including keeping up to date with research and visiting the province (most recently in November 2017). Where we have concerns, these are raised with the Government of Indonesia. Officials were not consulted prior to the publication of the research on pathways to peace, but UK government officials met researchers from the Politics of Papua Project in August 2016.
