Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how many fines have been issued to parents for non-attendance at school by a child in each of the last five years.

Statistics on the parental responsibility measures used by schools and local councils to improve poor pupil attendance including penalty notices are published by the Department, and are available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/parental-responsibility-measures-2015-to-2016-academic-year. The academic year 2015/16 is the latest year for which data is available.
