We want the Government to reform Attendance Allowance so that people with mobility issues can get a mobility element for this benefit, and so access the Motability Scheme. This would bring Attendance Allowance in line with PIP and DLA.

The Government responsed to this petition on 5th April 2024 (View Full Response)
1.4 million people are receiving Attendance Allowance worth £6 billion a year. Those who develop mobility needs in later life are able to spend this benefit on mobility aids if they wish.

(Estimated Final Signatures: 15,034 - 22 added in the past 24hrs)

The Government has taken action internationally to address concerns raised about headlamp glare. Recognising the need for further evidence, we intend to commission independent research shortly.

We believe the UK Government's policy requiring five-year residency for BN(O) visa holders for home fee status for tuition is unfair, and that home fee status should be available after 3 years continuous stay in the UK.

The Government responsed to this petition on 4th March 2024 (View Full Response)

Reduce Vehicle Tax for cars aged between 20 and 40 years old - 12,863 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 13,542 - 9 added in the past 24hrs)

Under the current rules a car does not become exempt from Vehicle Tax until it is at least 40 years old. There are vehicles within the 20 to 40 year age bracket that are well loved, modern classics and without a reduction in tax, we may see these vehicles disappear from our roads.

The Government responsed to this petition on 4th April 2024 (View Full Response)
The Government has no plans to reduce the tax exemption age for classic cars from 40 to 20 years. While the Government keeps all taxes under review, we consider 40 years a fair cut-off date.

Require broadcasters to call proscribed terrorist organisations terrorists - 13,074 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 13,111 - 3 added in the past 24hrs)

Terrorism legislation should be amended to require all broadcasters regulated by Ofcom to describe all terrorist organisations proscribed in the UK and their operatives as “terrorists” and not by any descriptor, such as “militants”, which does not make their terrorist nature clear.

The Government responsed to this petition on 18th April 2024 (View Full Response)
Ofcom rules ensure broadcast news must be reported with due accuracy and impartiality. The Government is committed to a free media. It would not be right to dictate the language that journalists use.
