Fund mandatory neurodevelopmental screening for all children - 28,232 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 28,364 - 431 added in the past 24hrs)

Screening could take place in primary care, including GP appointments, health visitor reviews, and school entry health at key developmental stages. It should involve early, trauma-informed, and identity-safe screening tools, with clear referral pathways, follow-up support, and outcomes monitored.

The Government responsed to this petition on 28th January 2026 (View Full Response)
The government recognises the need for early intervention and support for children. At present the evidence does not support neurodevelopmental screening for all children.

Stop the double tax (IHT & Income Tax) of pension funds & death benefits - 25,767 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 25,873 - 19 added in the past 24hrs)

The Government are introducing inheritance tax to pension funds & death benefits from April 2027. When you die this may now result in a disproportionate and unfair double taxation on beneficiaries (income tax and inheritance tax) which we think results in a disincentive to funding a pension.

The Government responsed to this petition on 18th September 2025 (View Full Response)
More than 90 per cent of estates will still pay no inheritance tax each year. The Government is continuing to incentivise pensions for their intended purpose of funding retirement.

Legislate to require drivers to report collisions with cats - 13,733 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 25,787 - 88 added in the past 24hrs)

It is legal in the UK to hit a cat when driving and not need to stop or report collisions, leaving them scared, alone, and in pain. Cats are important, loved, valued family members for many and we believe the law should reflect this.

Hold a referendum on introducing mandatory identity cards in the UK - 24,035 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 24,124 - 10 added in the past 24hrs)

We urge the Government to hold a referendum on any proposal to introduce identity cards, including the proposed “BritCard.” We oppose the implementation of a mandatory national identity card system, as we believe it could risk turning personal identification into a tool for state control.

The Government responsed to this petition on 20th October 2025 (View Full Response)
We have no plans to hold a referendum on the new digital identity scheme. There will be other ways for people to join a national conversation, including through a forthcoming consultation.

Introduce a Pension Tax Lock to help protect retirement savings and incentives - 22,786 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 23,300 - 10 added in the past 24hrs)

The Chancellor should introduce a Pension Tax Lock: a commitment not to reduce the amount people can withdraw from their pension tax-free or the amount of tax relief given on pension contributions. We believe this would help ensure retirement savings are protected and people can save with confidence

The Government responsed to this petition on 10th December 2025 (View Full Response)
The Government is committed to ensuring pensioners have security in retirement and has launched a Pensions Commission to look at what is required to ensure the system is strong, fair and sustainable.

Allow charities to rescue dogs with docked tails under the Animal Welfare Bill - 21,952 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 23,103 - 16 added in the past 24hrs)

We will work with stakeholders to consider appropriate exemptions as we deliver the relevant regulations. Exemptions will need to be finely balanced against the risk of creating loopholes.
