Mandate registration with a recognised regulatory body for all personal trainers

The Government must act to introduce a protected title of Registered Personal Trainer, require registration with a professional body, enforce qualifications, and create a national safeguarding register. We believe this will improve safety, accountability, and trust across the fitness industry.

Currently, anyone in the UK can call themselves a personal trainer without qualifications, registration, or oversight. While CIMSPA offers standards, its membership is voluntary. We believe this creates safeguarding risks, allowing banned individuals to operate freely. We call for a protected title, mandatory registration, minimum qualifications, and a national safeguarding system to protect the public and ensure accountability.
