Fund temporary suitable housing for children with life-limiting illnesses

We urge the Government to pass a law which funds temporary housing for children with life-limiting illnesses if their homes can no longer meet their needs. We believe that under no circumstances should a child remain in hospital for a lengthy period if they are able to be cared for at home.

The story behind this petition is about a little boy called Kyle, who was diagnosed with MND at 13 years old. Kyle spent almost a year living in hospital as his house no longer met his needs. Kyle sadly passed away in hospital in November 2025 without ever being able to return home. We want this law so that no child endures a fate where they must remain in hospital. If their home is deemed unsuitable, the Government should fund temporary housing to help the child and their families during such a difficult time.
