Increase the Carer’s Allowance to equal 35 hours at minimum wage

I want the Government to appreciate unpaid carers who can’t work and to increase the Carer’s Allowance so it equals the minimum wage. Many unpaid carers are only paid around £333 a month for a minimum 140 hours care every 4 weeks, which works out around £2.50 an hour.

By being paid minimum wage, this could increase to around £1700 per month if they are paid the minimum wage.

We believe unpaid carers save the Treasury billions of pounds, many are paid around £2.50 an hour, which we feel is an insulting amount and only continues because many carers carry out social care out of love.
