Make training in Neurodiversity compulsory for all mental health practitioners

We want the Government to require compulsory training on Neurodiversity for all Mental Health practitioners. We want everyone working in Mental Health to be able to recognise Neurodiversity and be able to refer to them for appropriate care, so they are not misdiagnosed.

We are concerned that misdiagnosis of Mental Health for people who are Neurodiversity is too common, and believe that at this point in history- no longer acceptable.
Neurodiversity is far more common than once realised, with an estimated 1 in 7 people being Neurodivergent.
We believe that because training on Neurodiversity is not mandatory, when undiagnosed individuals seek help via the mental health system they can be misdiagnosed and prescribed medication that is not right for them. This can be catastrophic.
