We believe current ratios of numbers of adults to children in Early Years are not appropriate to enable practitioners to effectively support our youngest citizens, and should be reviewed. We implore the government to review ratios alongside levels of need.

We believe the current ratios of 1:13 for children aged three and over and 1:30 for pupils in Reception are unrealistic in meeting the basic needs of our youngest citizens. We think that these ratios and current funding arrangements are creating situations in which it is impossible to meet the individual needs of so many of our next generation, our future.

We want the Government to review these ratios and act to ensure that we are able to give our young people the start they deserve which will enable them to fulfil their potential.
