Allow petitions about nominations for peerages

I want the Parliament to remove the restrictions within the petitions standards on calling for the removal of nominations for peerages. We believe it serves only to protect the systemic cronyism exploited through this archaic process.

We believe public standards of our elected representatives continue to fall deeper and deeper beneath what would have been rock bottom in any other era, and that the public should be allowed to petition against nominations for peerages, where they find these unacceptable.

There is no mechanism for democratic review of these nominations that seem increasingly to be awarded solely on the basis of political patronage.

In the absence of a proper reform or removal of the peerage system, a public right to reply seems appropriate.
