Legalise drinking alcohol in the stands at football matches

Change the current laws prohibiting alcoholic drinks being drunk within view of the pitch at football stadiums. The decision should with with individual football clubs, whether they choose to allow “drinking areas” in specific parts of the stadium.

Drinking within the stands is a successful and safe part of other football leagues, such as the Bundesliga, and could be replicated in the UK. It could boost profit for football clubs, combat binge drinking pre-match, and at half time, and should reduce crowding within the concourse when fans are able to return to matches.
