Increase local authority funding to pay for increase in pay for social workers

Government to increase local authority funding to pay for an increase in pay for social workers. Public sector workers will get an above-inflation pay rise and social workers have been ignored. They are frontline safeguarding children and adults and at the forefront of fighting this pandemic.

That the Government boost local authority funding to pay for an increase in social workers pay, following recommendations of the independent pay bodies by funding real-terms pay rises. Social workers need to be recognised and acknowledged, it's no way to reward those who've been at the forefront of fighting this pandemic. The Government's coverage of key workers has excluded a profession that makes a vital contribution to our country.
