Transgender healthcare is currently available on the NHS through Gender Clinics with an average wait time of 18 months. The highest average waiting times are in the South West, at 7.5 years, which is 21.7 times longer than the 18 week target for elective care. We think this is completely unacceptable. For many trans people, access to this treatment is absolutely critical, and we believe having such long waiting times, is by definition, systemic discrimination.
