Though students receive a maintenance grant, the grant can be insufficient to cover rent and living costs. Many students take jobs to cover the difference but are ineligible to receive Universal Credit if they are out of work.

Landlords are reliant on income for student properties but are under pressure to relieve students of rent burdens.

Everyone is set to lose currently and relief must be provided so landlords receive rent and students aren’t pushed into debt as a result.
