Increase funding for coastal defence and compensate owners for lost properties

The Government should increase funding for sea defences to protect vulnerable homes, and compensate owners for losses incurred for land and property lost to the sea because of erosion exacerbated by rising sea levels created by climate change.

Coastal Erosion is putting many homes at risk, including 22 at Skipsea Sands, and shoreline management plans do not protect all of these. Homeowners whose properties are affected can face eviction and be required to pay for the demolition of their properties, without any compensation.
