@UrbanistTOC I think it could be activated with food trucks, bars and cafes to give it a night vibe as well and really function as a local social focal point, especially if the plot to the south is developed for high density housing, though I'd love to see the Greek Thomson terrace rebuilt!
@DickWinchester @UofGVC @MazzucatoM Certainly ensuring that there is a coherent whole lifecycle industrial strategy to finance and utilise the outputs in domestic industrial sectors, with a focus on strategic development missions that drive investment, productivity, innovation, high skilled employment, and exports.
@UrbanistTOC Would certainly be an obvious way to activate that cavernous void space. Interestingly they've used that sculpture from outside the BBC studios at Pacific Quay in their mock up!
@UofGVC Also as research by @MazzucatoM and others have shown, research projects by universities with eventual industrial applications tend to be in the form of the state underwriting the greatest risk, and the private sector often free rides on the output. It doesn't grasp that dynamic.
@kayleighmqu @DalgetySusan I think you're right, Kayleigh. Edinburgh and Glasgow have the youngest average populations due to being big cities.
@ewangibbs I remember writing an essay in defence of the democratic demands of the Kronstadt rebellion in first year at uni!
@MrAbercrombie Ross's Dairies ran a big chain of shops across Glasgow throughout the 20th century, including the popular 'Milk Bars' in which Scottish Milk was promoted as the ideal drink during the 1930’s. Its pasteurisation plant, on Crow Road, was camouflaged during the Second World War! https://t.co/Vc48wD5GpR
@apmcfadyen @GUUnion It was in 1980, while Charles Kennedy was President, that it was opened up to women members, though not without resistance from a determined cohort of old dinosaurs. Happily while I was on the board the GUU elected its first all-female executive.
Quite a stark contrast to today. https://t.co/MZ7cgNLOUJ https://t.co/ag6OtqPupU
You can watch the full programme on @bbcalba. Very fine tributes by @campbellclaret, @BrianWilson1967, Fiona O'Donnell, Dr Clark McGinn and others. They reflect my own memories of his character when I got to know him as rector while I was an undergraduate. https://t.co/vJygpSPBoV
