Increase the legal requirement to keep a child in a rearfacing car seat to age 3 - Final Signatures: 4,895

Due to evidence showing that a child's vertebrae is connected via cartilage not ossified bone, this does not happen until roughly age 4-6. A severe crash could result in the cartilage stretching and rupturing the spinal cord. It is 5 times safer for an under 4 to travel rearwards.

I would like a public vote/referendum on whether we want to spend in excess of £100 billion on a train project which will destroy or irreparably damage natural habitats and wildlife sites along the route.

The Government responsed to this petition on 5th January 2021 (View Full Response)
HS2 will transform, and help decarbonise, our country’s transport network, bring our biggest cities closer together, boost productivity and rebalance opportunity across the country.

The Government must build the eastern leg of HS2 in full to deliver it's promise to level up the North. To achieve the full benefits of Phase 1 the full Y shaped network must be built. The planned route is a result of years of work. We believe it is the best option for the UK rail network.

Provide additional funding for more bike lanes - Final Signatures: 32

We want more bike lanes for cyclists who need to get places, such as get to trails, or get to work. This could help reduce car use, and so carbon dioxide levels. This could also mean road cyclists have less fear of getting hit by a car and may feel more inclined to go on their bike.
