If cyclists are to use the road then similar safety regulations should be applied to cyclists to ensure road safety for all. Cyclists can also have accident and crash into pedestrians yet they currently do not need insurance to cover this. Cyclists use the road and therefore should be annual vehicle excise duty to help fund road maintenance for all users.
