To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what proportion of the vehicles used by his Department on Government business are electric vehicles.

All of the cars above are managed by Defra Group Fleet Services (Environment Agency). There are other cars within Defra (the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science, the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board and Sea Fish). Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what proportion of Ministerial vehicles are electric.

With the support of the Department for Transport, the Government Car Service (GCS) is replacing its fleet with Ultra-Low Emission Vehicles as they become due for replacement. Currently 50% of the GCS fleet is now either battery electric or petrol/electric hybrid and we are actively looking at options to accelerate this transition.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to his Answer of 21 July 2020 to Question 72801 on Official Cars: Production, how many Ford Mondeo hybrid cars there are in the Government Car Service fleet.

There are 21 Ford Mondeo hybrid cars in the Government Car Service (GCS) fleet. These are due for replacement with Ultra Low Emission Vehicles (ULEV’s) within the next 18 months.

To ask Her Majesty's Government what percentage of vehicles used to convey Cabinet, and other ministers, are all-electric.

48% of the GCS fleet is now either battery electric, petrol/electric hybrid or hydrogen powered. The Government Car Service (GCS) is a division of the central Department for Transport (DfT), 16% of their fleet are battery electric vehicles.

The GCS are not the only provider of vehicles for ministerial transport. Some Departments have their own car fleet, others use private contractors or the Metropolitan Police, this information is not held by the DfT.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what progress has been made on increasing the number of plug-in cars and vans in each government department’s fleet since 2014; how many plug-in cars and vans were in each fleet as of April 2019; and what proportion that is of the total number of vehicles owned and rented by each government department.

This information is not currently held centrally. However, the Government has committed to electrify 25% of central government cars by 2022, and 100% by 2030. As part of delivering this commitment, from 2019/20 statistics on the share of electric vehicles in each Department’s fleet will be included in the Greening Government Commitments annual report.

Nissan electric vehicles already form part of the Government Car Service Fleet. Currently there are six Nissan electric cars in operation.
