Question to the HM Treasury:
To ask Her Majesty's Government what estimate they have made of the amount of annual remittances sent abroad for the years (1) 2015, (2) 2020, and (3) 2021.
This question was answered on 7th February 2022
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) do not publish estimates of remittance flows as part of their Balance of Payments publications. No other estimates of Balance of Payments components are made beyond the official statistics as provided by the ONS.
The World Bank estimates that remittance flows out of the UK were $10.7bn in 2015 and $9.3bn in 2020, with the estimate for 2021 yet to be released.
