Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government, further to the answer by Baroness Anelay of St Johns on 23 January (HL Deb, col 425) concerning recent developments in Sudan, whether they are providing any support to (1) the British commercial mission that will visit Khartoum in April, and (2) a seminar focusing on the promotion of British business to be held in Khartoum in February.

Our Embassy in Khartoum will facilitate these events by providing business links and advice to the Middle East Association’s commercial mission. The Government is not providing any financial support. More widely, we will continue to provide support to UK companies to understand the opportunities and challenges of operating in Sudan.
