Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask Her Majesty's Government, further to the HS2 contract awarded to a Hitachi and Alstom joint-venture, whether there will be two separate types of train, (a) classic compatible trains, and (b) trains dedicated to high-speed lines.

The 54 trains contracted from the Joint venture are conventional compatible trains only.
