Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask His Majesty's Government whether they intend to publish the criteria and appraisals which informed the decision to procure the 29 battery-electric trains for TransPennine Express, other than (1) completing electrification of the route from the East Coast Mainline to Saltburn, Scarborough, and Hull, and (2) procuring conventional electric trainsets.
The procurement of 29 battery-electric trains for TransPennine Express adhered to the Procurement Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016. All decisions were taken in accordance with the Government’s established rail investment and procurement processes.
