Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask Her Majesty's Government what discussions they have had with the government of the United States of America regarding countries attempting to acquire nuclear weapons ahead of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference in January 2022.

The UK has a close and special relationship with the United States of America. The Foreign and Defence Secretaries hold regular discussions with their US counterparts on a range of issues, including on nuclear counter proliferation policy. These discussions are reflected, and supported, by daily cooperation at official level between the UK and the US on counter proliferation, arms control, nuclear deterrence policy and strategic stability.
