Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask His Majesty's Government what discussions they have had with (1) the Government of Israel and (2) international partners on establishing a humanitarian corridor between Gaza and East Jerusalem to allow Gazan children with cancer the specialist care that can only be provided by Augusta Victoria Hospital.
In September, alongside Jordan and Qatar, the Foreign Secretary and the Minister for the Middle East co-hosted a meeting of senior government ministers at the UN General Assembly focused on driving action on humanitarian access and healthcare in Gaza. Following that meeting, the UK joined international partners in issuing a Call to Action on the Government of Israel to allow and facilitate rapid and unimpeded humanitarian access throughout Gaza and restore medical referral pathways to hospitals in East Jerusalem and the West Bank for patients whose conditions cannot be adequately treated in Gaza.
We continue to explore and push for ways in which we can make this option available, for Gazan children facing a range of medical needs including cancer.
