Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether they have made representations to the government of Azerbaijan with regard to the alleged forcible closure of mosques there, including the Fatima Zahra mosque in Baku, and mosques in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The UK is aware of concerns about mosque closures in Azerbaijan. We have not made representations on these specific cases. However, we continue to monitor the situation, and we raise human rights concerns with the Government of Azerbaijan at every appropriate opportunity.
