The government is committed to ensuring that the UK remains a world leader in film. Last year, the government invested nearly £1 billion through the creative sector tax reliefs, as well as around £70 million in grant in aid and National Lottery funding through our arm’s length body the British Film Institute, in order to support the production, distribution and exhibition of British films, both throughout the UK and abroad. This week’s Budget also allocated £4.8 million to expand the work of the British Film Commission to promote the UK as a destination of choice for studio space investment.
