Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask His Majesty's Government how much (1) NHS England, and (2) the Department of Health and Social Care, have spent on external bodies, including management consultants and advisory firms, to support or provide advice on the current NHS reorganisation and structural changes in the (a) 2024–25 financial year, (b) 2025–26 financial year, and (c) 2026–27 financial year to date; and what is the breakdown of these costs by year and by organisation.

The Department publishes details of its annual expenditure on external consultants on a regular basis in the Department’s annual report and accounts.

In the 2024/25 annual report, published in December 2025, the Department disclosed that it had spent a total of £2.0 million on external consultancy in that financial year, compared to £3.9 million in 2023-24. Figures for 2025/26 and 2026/27 will be published in the normal way in due course in the relevant annual reports.
