Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask His Majesty's Government, following the announcement that both the five planned Type 32 and the planned Type 83 ships will now be replaced by six Common Combat Vessels, what assessment they have made of the impact of the reduction in the number of ships on naval capabilities.

I refer the noble lady to the answer given to Question 118566 in the House of Commons on 16 March 2026.

The size and composition of the Royal Navy are kept under continuous review to ensure the force can meet Defence tasks and operational commitments.
