Question
To ask The Senior Deputy Speaker what plans, if any, there are to change the font for the printed version of the Hansard Daily Report for the House of Lords from a serif to a sans-serif font; and what assessment he has made of the expected cost of any such change.
A paper was presented to the Services Committee in May 2025 with suggestions for a redesign of the printed edition of House of Lords Hansard with a sans-serif font. The proposed change is driven by concerns over accessibility. Following the Services Committee discussion, physical copies of the proposal were placed in the Printed Paper Office and linked to in the Members' Bulletin so that all Members had the opportunity to comment. The limited number of comments received were largely supportive. It is anticipated that the associated costs, largely incurred through making adjustments to existing systems, will be low and further details will be made available to the Services Committee. Subject to approval, the plan is to implement the change at the start of a new Session.
