To ask The Senior Deputy Speaker what the average daily cost for the transcription and editorial services used to produce the daily Hansard publications is.

The office of the Official Report produces transcripts for the Chamber, Grand Committee and Select Committee proceedings. While it is not possible to separate out the transcription and editorial functions from the full Hansard budget, Hansard’s average budget (capital and resource, excluding broadcasting) over the past three full financial years (2022-23 to 2024-25) has been £2.985 million, which covers production and post-production. That gives an average per day of £8,164.38.
