Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government what estimate they have made of the revenue lost to the Exchequer as a result of smuggling between the United Kingdom and mainland Europe.

The information is not available. Tax gaps for alcohol, tobacco and oils were published in “Measuring Tax Gaps 2013”. These estimates cover all revenue losses and cannot be broken down to isolate losses as a result of smuggling between the UK and mainland Europe.
