European Court of Human Rights: Belfast Agreement

Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they plan to withdraw from the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR); and if so, what is their assessment of the impact of withdrawing from the ECHR on the 1998 Good Friday Agreement.

The UK has a longstanding tradition of ensuring rights and liberties are protected domestically and of fulfilling our international human rights obligations. The proposed Bill of Rights is fully in line with the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement.
