Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:
To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what estimate he has made of the effect on (a) relative and (b) absolute child poverty of the four-year freeze announced in the July Budget on the uprating of (i) jobseeker's allowance and (ii) employment and support allowance.
The Government has carefully considered all measures introduced in the Summer Budget.
This Government is committed to reducing child poverty, and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to get on in life.
As part of this we are introducing new life chances measures to drive action on addressing the root causes of disadvantage.
