Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps he is taking with the Minister for Women and Equalities to support women who have a miscarriage.

The Government recognises the profound impact miscarriage has on women, and their families. We are determined to improve miscarriage care and the support available.

We are strengthening the availability of Early Pregnancy Assessment Units, and in 2024, we extended the Baby Loss Certificate service, which provides voluntary certificates to recognise pre-24-week loss.

The Department has also engaged with the Office for Equality and Opportunity throughout the development of the Renewed Women's Health Strategy. As set out in the strategy, we will carefully consider the findings presented in the recent report from Tommy's charity on the Graded Model of Miscarriage Care, as part of our broader work on miscarriage care.
