Question to the Home Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what steps her Department is taking to ensure that the Metropolitan Police investigate all crimes irrespective of when those crimes took place.
The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) is operationally independent from Government and free from political interference. It will be for MPS to consider the crimes that they investigate and then, if any evidence comes to light it will be for them to bring it before the Crown Prosecution service to take forward to see whether there is a case to answer.
