Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, if his Department will place in the Library copies of the files on the Indian National Security Guard from 1984 and 1985, reference FCO 37/3663 and FCO 37/4109.

These files have been reviewed for release to The National Archives under the Public Records Act. FCO 37/3663 and FCO 37/4109 are retained by the FCDO on grounds of sensitivity. It would not be appropriate to place these retained items in the House of Commons Library. Nevertheless, these files will be re-reviewed for release at least every ten years, in line with Government policy.
